Workforce Australia - Transition to Work

If you are 15 – 24 years old, disengaged from full – time employment or education, and live in the Local Government Areas (LGA) of;

Barwon Region – City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire, Borough of Queenscliff Shire, Golden Plains Shire, and

North Western Region (Melbourne) – Hume City Council, Moreland Council, Maribyrnong City Council and  Moonee Valley Council.

WCIG delivers its Workforce Australia – Transition to Work services in two main regions:

  • North Western region of Melbourne, with offices in Broadmeadows, Craigieburn and Sunbury
  • Barwon region, with offices in Corio and Geelong, and with an outreach site at the Vines Road Community Centre in Hamlyn Heights. 

We understand that our offices may be too far for you to travel, so we can arrange a meeting spot in your local area, for example at McDonalds, any cafe, libraries or, if its a nice day, in a local park. 

As young people, entering the working world can be daunting. We completely understand that you may be indecisive. Our Transition to Work services offers assistance with resume and cover letters, career pathway planning, mock interviews, and work experience opportunities with various industries. As we support you in getting job-ready, we will together identify what your strengths and aspirations are. 

WCIG’s Workforce Australia –  Transition to Work program is a voluntary program. However, in order for us to be fully support you in furthering your education or finding employment, we strongly encourage you to engage with us as much as possible. Therefore, no you don’t have to attend appointments, but it is  advisable. 

Transition to Work is a flexible, specialised support service for young people, aged 15-24 years old, who are experiencing unemployment or looking to start education. Unlike Workforce Australia Services, you don’t have to meet the Points Based Activation System (PBAS) requirements.
