Mother of Seven Secures Job in Health Sector

MEET MUNIIBA

Muniiba, a 50-year-old mother of seven, knows firsthand the challenges of balancing family and work. After years of caring for her children as a single mother, Muniiba faced long-term unemployment.

But her determination to provide for her family and be a positive role model led her to take a brave step toward finding employment. Living in Australia, Muniiba realised the growing financial needs of her family as her children got older. With the help of her employment consultant, she started the journey to re-enter the workforce, preparing a resume, writing a cover letter, and participating in mock interviews. Her goal was to secure a non-clinical role in the health sector, where she could put her life skills and caregiving experience to good use.

Muniiba’s hard work paid off when she secured an interview with ISS Health Services for a Food Service Attendant position. During the interview process, her resilience, life skills, and financial necessity were discussed, which impressed the employer. With the support of a wage subsidy, she was offered valuable training and work hours, paving the way for a fresh start.

To ease the transition, Muniiba received post-placement support from her Employment Consultant, including guidance on Centrelink reporting, work clothing, and petrol vouchers to help with her travel expenses. Despite the challenges of juggling her new part-time job and her caregiving responsibilities, Muniiba’s determination never wavered.

Today, Muniiba has secured a full-time position as a Food Assistant at Northern Private, where she enjoys her work and finds fulfillment in providing for her family. Her journey from long-term unemployment to full-time success is a powerful testament to her hard work, perseverance, and the support she received along the way.

Muniiba’s story is an inspiring reminder that with dedication, support, and a positive attitude, it’s never too late to achieve your goals.
