WCIG to deliver new program "Workforce Australia" in North-East Melbourne

Back to News

Westgate Community Initiatives Group Ltd. (WCIG) with new program "Workforce Australia" in North-East Melbourne, commencing 1st July 2022.

WCIG is pleased to be growing its Employment Services in Northeast Melbourne after being selected by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) to deliver the Workforce Australia Services (2022 – 2027).

Workforce Australia, an Australian Government employment service, soon to replace the current Jobactive service, will offer one portal for all government employment and skill programs and initiatives.

The platform will make it easier for Australians to search, change or create their job by better connecting job seekers with employers. It will equip job seekers with the skills, training, and resources to gain sustainable and meaningful employment, leading to a more productive and competitive workforce.

Effective 1st July 2022, WCIG will roll out Workforce Australia across the North-eastern Melbourne region with offices in Epping, Greensborough, Heidelberg, Lilydale, Northcote, Ringwood and Wantirna South.  The program will further develop and strengthen our local connections with employers. We will work closely with them to identify and fill vacancies, while delivering tailored and intensive case management to our job seekers in the region. The program will complement WCIG's other well-established services offered in the area.

Employment Group Manager, George Dimopoulos, said, "Workforce Australia will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the service WCIG currently offers and broaden our ability to engage with employers and job seekers alike"

WCIG will support job seekers with a range of services, including career guidance, mentoring and vocational training, work experience, job placements and post-placement support. We will also support job seekers with getting the tools and skills they need to find and keep a job, such as work-related licencing, relocation assistance and other work-related goods and services. Employment programs will also provide work-like/simulated experiences while supporting access to the digital platform.

Employers will be provided with a simpler and more connected recruitment service through improved matching, shortlisting, and post-placement support based on their workforce needs. Workforce Australia will also accelerate the recruitment process by reducing red tape, while also offering financial incentives to eligible employers.

Ron Miers, CEO of WCIG, said, "Workforce Australia will put our clients at the heart of all that we do. We will offer services that are simple, supported, connected and respectful."
