The Certificate III in Individual Support qualification is designed for individuals who are working or wish to work within community and/or residential settings. It reflects the role of workers who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or various other reasons.

Accredited qualifications

Our CHC33015 – Certificate III in Individual Support is nationally recognised qualification, allowing you to work anywhere in Australia as a Personal Care Worker.

Employment outcomes

All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work experience in a regulated aged care facility to be deemed competent for this qualification. This work experience can assist you in finding employment outcomes at the successful completion of this qualification.

About the qualification

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or various other reasons. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers possess a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge bases, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

This qualification provides you with foundational skills and knowledge to work in the aged, disability and home and community care industry. You’ll learn to work with individuals to support their independence and wellbeing, in their homes or in community settings.

At the completion of the qualification you will specialise in the following areas:

  • Disability

Through classroom learning and a practical work placement, you’ll learn to:
  • Provide individualised support, both physical and social
  • Maintain personal care and other activities
  • Recognise healthy body systems
  • Work with diverse people
  • You will also learn valuable skills in following safe work practices and working legally and ethically

Locations

Classes run throughout Metro Melbourne and Regional Victoria
The qualification is delivered face-to-face

Duration

3 terms (9 months)
12-18 hours of face to face classroom work
Additional reading and work outside of the classroom is required
120 hours placement

Entry Requirements

Certificate III in Individual Support
Applicants must be 18 years or older
Year 11 or equivalent certificate of senior secondary education or must meet the Language & Literacy testing requirements

If your level of English is insufficient, a suitable course can be organised.
