Better Futures

Better Futures provides support to young people in out of home care to reach their goals in transitioning from care.

This program supports young people aged between 16 and 21.

We are committed to improving life outcomes for young people living in or, leaving residential out-of-home care.

Better Futures workers engage early with young people in care and their support networks, including carers, case managers and care teams. A Better Futures worker provides secondary consultation to the care team, lending expertise to the transition planning process which may include assisting young people to plan for and meet their goals for living arrangements, education, employment, health and wellbeing and community connections.

WCIG acts as the single point of Common Intake, working with partners Berry Street, VACCA, Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services and Inner Melbourne VET Cluster to deliver Better Futures to Melbourne’s Western and Brimbank Melton areas, with Whitelion acting in a Community Connector role.
